Psychological First Aid

Alternatives for Families: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT) — Foundations
This certification introduces the foundational principles of Alternatives for Families: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT), an evidence-based approach designed to support children and families affected by trauma, conflict, or family stress. The training focuses on understanding the impact of trauma on family dynamics while promoting strategies that strengthen communication, emotional regulation, and healthy relationships. It also highlights cognitive-behavioral techniques that help caregivers and children develop coping skills and build safer, more supportive family environments.
MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID (MHFA)
Provided training in identifying, understanding, and responding to signs of mental health and substance use crises, using evidence-based intervention strategies to support individuals until professional help is available.

QPR GATEKEEPER CERTIFICATION (SUICIDE PREVENTION)
Evidence-based suicide prevention training focused on recognizing warning signs, engaging individuals in crisis, and connecting them to appropriate mental health resources using the Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) model.

TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE CERTIFICATE

OPIOID OVERDOSE PREVENTION, RECOGNITION AND RESPONSE
Completed training in identifying, preventing, and responding to opioid overdoses. Provides practical skills in naloxone administration and harm reduction, making it highly relevant for social work, community outreach, and behavioral health roles. Broader and hands-on, emphasizing real-world overdose response.
NALOXONE FOR OPIOID OVERDOSE 101 — UTAH DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
State-backed training focused on naloxone use and basic overdose response procedures. Offers credibility through government recognition and ensures understanding of formal opioid safety protocols. More formal and regulatory-focused, but narrower in scope compared to the GetNaloxoneNow.org certificate.
